Hendrik Snoek, a former German show jumper turned businessman, experienced a life-altering event on 3 November 1976 when he was abducted and held captive for a ransom of DM 5,000,000. Fortunately, his father stepped in and paid the ransom, leading to his release. Moreover, a significant portion of the ransom money was eventually recovered.
It is worth mentioning that Hendrik Snoek played a pivotal role in establishing the Westphalian Horse Museum in Munster. Additionally, he achieved notable accomplishments in his show jumping career, such as winning the 1972 Hickstead Derby with Shirokko and serving as a reserve for West Germany in the 1976 Summer Olympics. Furthermore, he showcased his skills by emerging victorious in the R.D.S. Dublin Grand Prix in 1984 while riding the chestnut mare Palma Nova.
